D-Terminator issues??

I've had a D-Terminator for about 6 months and it has worked flawlessly until recently. It calibrates fine and I used to get a 167.3 to 167.4 grain reading consistently with the empty the pan. Now it ranges from 167.1gr to 167.8 grains. If I zero the scale with the pan on, weigh a load, take the pan off of the scale and put it back on, I will get a .1 to .7 grain difference in the load weight, but the scale always goes back to zero when I take the pan off. I have changed the batteries twice, tried using the adaptor, I don't have any flourecent lighting, I keep it away from any power sources and I don't have it near air vents. It is in a climate controlled room so there is no temperature differences. Someone told me to try wiping it down with a dryer sheet to remove any static electricity and I will try that when I get home in a few days. Is there anything else I can do to make it read more accurately? Should I return it for a new one?

Thanks in advance.

Try turning the scale on a hour or so before you use it and let it warm up.  Check it then.

Have you recalibrated the scale using the supplied checkweight?

Beyond that, the scale will slowly creep in weight until it reaches operating temperature, but pressing the zero button between weighings will compensate for this.

Yes I have re-calibrated. I re-calibrate every time before using it. And I have been re-zeroing between each charge. Same thing is happening.

If I have a scale that needs 60 minutes to warm up, I have purchased the wrong scale! I use batteries instead of the plug in and it has an automatic shut off of around 3 minutes. I generally warm it up for two 3 minute cycles. If I need to do more than that, I will just get a refund.

First of all sorry to hear about your problem. Mine was acting up like that and sometimes it would not come out of the boot up check when you first turn it on. What I did was take the plate off and wiped every thing down with alcohol then I flipped the plate over and looked for anything that was not suppose to be on the bottom that might cause a tilt or become uneven. Then cleaned DT really well then snapped it back together and it has been working great. It is a very important tool in reloading procedures and Dillon has always done me right. Hope you get things back to working status....Good Luck and safe reloads.

Have you done anything different, like change powder brands?.Some powders meter better than others.

Have you tried comparing the powder throws on a beam scale?

When you used the power adaptor you saw no difference at all?

You could buy a magnetic analytical scale the reads out to 4 places with that only

drifts .00077gn. for 600.00. But it runs on AC voltage.

Just trying to help.

At this point I suggest you contact CED, the manufacturer. The one-year warranty is through them, not us. They will probably have you send to to their PA office for evaluation. See the instruction manual for their contact information.
