Determining used 550b value

I have a friend that is looking to part with a 550b setup. I haven't seen it yet so I don't know of the exact condition, but I know if I buy it I will need parts from Dillion for the calibers I reload. What I am not sure about is if there is some kind of rough guidance for determining a value of a used press, all other things being equal. With some things, like certain electronics or tools ½ of new cost is a good starting point. I have looked over some adds and a few auctions but am having a hard time finding a baseline because prices seem to be all over the place.

I plan on helping him inventory everything(he got it all as a gift, lucky guy) and then going from there after determining condition. I have reloading experience, but not with Dillion equipment.

Am I making any sense? I want to be fair, but can't afford to be too generous either. Any advice would be very welcome.

I know he has some die sets and maybe even tool heads for some calibers I'm not interested it. Where would be a good place to unload them? Craigslist wont allow anything gun related, even though some equipment makes it through now and then.

There's always some on ebay. Follow some to the end and see what they go for. There will be new on down to some fairly old ones. Most sellers don't mention how old they are, that's why ask a question is a great feature. 1/2 sounds far too cheap. These machines last more than a lifetime and the warranty is out of this world. I would bet that it could go for more than retail if it comes with numerous complete tool heads. Extras, such as scales, books, tumbler and such just adds value. You won't be disappointed.

a complete machine typically sells for 80-85% of current retail. The warranty on the RL550B stays with the machine, so only missing parts aren't covered under warranty.

I was just getting ready to post one for sale. I have ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES and will sell at a fair price.Doubt you'll find a more complete setup with this many accessories than what I have. Some of my conversion kits have never even been opened and I will still sell the whole package at a fair price. Let me know ASAP because I am about to go public with it.
