Dillon 450 jr. Upgrade?
Quote from Reloader on October 26, 2011, 7:20 pmI stumbled on a Dillon 450 jr. press. It's in about 95% shape and 'seems' to all be there (no manual). It comes with the 38/357 and 45 ACP die sets. It's completly manual...primer and powder. This is the version that uses just the SDB die sets..it's not the one that had the funky 7/8-14 tap in one hole.
1. Is there an upgrade path for this like the 450--->550 ? (would that be 450 jr.----> SDB?)
2. If there is not an upgrade (machine to machine)...is the powder and / or priming system upgradeable?
3. Does any strongmount (currently) made that fits this?
4. Is there a downloadable manual available?
I did set it up...cycle some brass and it works perfectly. Currently have it set up beside my 550. I keep the .45 ACP die set on it..but the small primer cup. That way I can load all those small primer .45's I run into.
I haven't decided whether to keep it or not. Would be great as a 'deprime only' or a back up for my 550...but with it all manual, it takes just as much time to set it up an the 550...so no savings there.
Thanks!
