Dillon Eliminator broke?
Quote from Reloader on July 13, 2013, 11:46 pmI took my Eliminator (a few years old, functioned perfectly before this) apart so it would go in the padded Dillon packing box it came in when I moved a few weeks ago. Took it out, reassembled, and it will not not level. I have to hold it up at a 45 degree angle to get the balance arm to center in the white box at the "O". I have eyeballed it every way I can and see no damage, and the beam works freely and all the parts look fine. It levels easily when I set it at 15 grains. No sign of damage, and the box in another box that was hand carried separate from other things.
Any guess on what I'm doing wrong or did to this thing? I noticed the lead shot in the cup screwed on by the mfg. to counterbalance. Can I just add 15 grains of shot to the little cup myself to even out? Deceptively simple answer that still leaves me wondering what I broke.
TIA!

Quote from Reloader on July 16, 2013, 6:22 pmI suspect you do not have the brass powder pan installed. The brass-colored pan sits on top of the silver pan holder.
DO NOT add/remove shot from the pan holder! This must be verified at several weights, and must be sent in to us for any recalibration.

Quote from Reloader on July 17, 2013, 1:57 amThe powder pan is in place correctly, just like I always set it up, balance it, check charges every so often, etc. I have been using this scale for a couple of three years now...got it the same time I got my SDB and used it to load maybe 15K, checking it with that scale...with the brass colored powder pan on the silver pan holder.
Clear on not messing with the shot. Unclear on how it could be out of whack. Bizarre. Next thing to look at?

Quote from Reloader on July 17, 2013, 4:32 pmMake sure the portion of the table the scale rests on is level. next, use a dryer anti-static sheet to wipe off all parts of the scale. Sometimes a buildup of static electricity can casue this.
If those don't correct the issue, then contact us for a return authorization and send the scale back for recalibration under warranty.

Quote from Reloader on July 18, 2013, 11:15 pmTook the beam back off, wiped every part of the whole thing down with dryer sheet...check. Checked the reloading bench with a bubble level, it is level, as before. Reassemble...still exactly 15 grains required to get it so that I can level it. Checked the original Dillon box it was packed in to make sure I didn't leave off something, nope, no other parts I forgot to put on.
I'll call Monday and get an RMA unless you have a reboot option for a mechanical scale...
Thanks for the assistance!
