Dillon Swage
Quote from Reloader on November 4, 2010, 2:24 pmI just started reloading and am loading .223 for my AR-15.
I have all military crimp brass and have tried various methods to remove the military crimp. After loading about 200 shells I was having a conversation with a friend that has been reloading for some time. I explained how I was removing the crimp including placing an allen wrench in a vice and setting the brass on top of the allen wrench (it was the correct diameter) and tapping the shell on top with a piece of wood. It seemed to work perfect since now the press would put the primer in.
He advised me not to fire those shells since the allen wrench would leave slots around the crimp. I removed the bullets and saved the powder and am waiting the arrival of the Dillon 600 Swage. I learned a valuable lesson. Use the correct tool.NCBrew

I received the Dillon 600 Swage and it is great. I even connected up the rubber band and string to make it "automatic". That worked good but it need some improvements and I will make them. The string needs an adjustment often. If you do this use a string that does not stretch. Anyway, if you are thinking about the swage just spend the money and you will be glade you did.
