Disassembly of 550
Quote from Reloader on April 27, 2014, 1:51 amHello! Due to life, I have had my 550 sitting for some time, unused and I need to take it completely apart and give it a good cleaning and lubing. Is there any way to get the arms of the press off? By arms, I mean the links that transfer the power from the pull handle to the press shaft.
Also, what is the best lubricant for the shaft?
Thanks!
Andy

Quote from Reloader on January 13, 2015, 3:09 amI had to call Dillon about this a couple years ago. You will need to make a punch out of a large (about 8 inch) nail by grinding off the pointed tip. You can slip this punch through the hollow pin on the right side of the press and tap out the solid pin on the opposite (left) side. Then tap out the hollow pin from the left side after the solid pin is removed. I noticed my rock chucker has the same kind of assembly as well. Now I keep one of my homemade punches on my reloading bench for when I need to disassemble a press again.
Hope this helps.
