Do dillon powder bars throw consistant charges

been reading advertisemnts from powder slide improvement vendors other than dillion.  Got email that the  extra small does not throw constistant chages, then same comment about the large powder charge bar. And some bars will have spots that do not throw consistant.  Sales pitch?

So much informatin that I dont believe any thing.  I have three of the four powder bars and soon iwill have the magum bar. I will throw a few hundred different charges in each and make up my own mind.  Seems silly to me to spend a $100 or more for new plastic powder bars and so called micrometers when still have to weight a charge.  Good salemanship it seems

Since i will only be using Titegroup for the  380 38 357 and 44 mag .  and think i can use for 32 acp . will be easy task. Benchmark for 444 marlin. and the magum.

I can see where it would not hurt to polish out tool marks when possible. Other than that i can not see why a replacement for the standard bolt will make any improvement in function other than helping the lazy guy feel good..

Anyway MR. Dillon any truth or comemts on the information i am getting that dillon powder bars do not throw consistant charges, from outside vendors about a brand new dillon 550 and new powder bars? I did buy the tee style plastic bolt heads, less than ten bucks. . If they work will be better than looking for a wench. Othen than that have no plans on changes.

Oh, one more thought. if the powder is so fine as to exscape and foul the powder bar, seems like is time to change powder brands.  Gun powder makes good fertilizer.

Just a reply from a typical customer....

I use 2 Dillon powder dispensers; one set up for pistol, one set up for rifle. I've never seen the settings vary. Period. All the powder drops are consistent from start to finish. I know this because I used to measure every fifth drop. After a while it became fruitless. Now, I simply set and load. I have complete faith in this product.

I did have trouble with the small powder bar that came installed in a Dillon measure.  It was spilling powder (H110) and was not giving consistent charge-to-charge weights.  I called customer service, and they suggested that I install and use the large charge bar instead.  I did this, and the spilling and inconsistency were solved; but I'm still not happy with the idea that a Dillon product does not work as it's supposed to, and that customer service's response is to use the other charge bar.

I will say that in decades of using Dillon products, and in two or three contacts with customer service, this was the only unsatisfactory experience I have had with them.  I remain a loyal Dillon customer.

Been using only the small powder charge bar for .380, .357 and 9mm Luger for the last 9 to 10,000 rounds.

Am using Winchester 231 and Tite Group powders, consistent throwing of powder has been nothing short of amazing. When I change calibers, I check the powder throw once at the beginning and occasionally thereafter while reloading.

I do have each caliber set up on its own tool head, changing nothing except shell plate and buttons - only way to go unless you enjoy fiddling with die and powder settings.

When I first starting to use the 550 press, I checked maybe every five to ten rounds. Results are so consistent at least with the two powders I use that it is almost a waste of time to check the accuracy. I do check for safety reasons to make sure that I do not vary from the desired setting.

My opinion is that to buy an aftermarket powder bar for Winchester 231 powders and Titegroup would be a waste of money.

I did have more variance than I wanted to with my 550 so I used a moto tool and some polish and after about 2 hrs of polishing I reduced my variance to almost nothing I was weighing about every 10th now I weigh about every 100 and see maybe a .1 variance

They throw consistent enough sharges that i use a dillon powder measure for all my match loads.
