Erratic COL
Quote from Reloader on October 27, 2015, 6:37 pmI'm not new to reloading, although I'm returning to it after a long hiatus. I recently purchased the XL650 and I love it.
I am having an issue where my COL varies and I can't figure out why. I'm using once fired Speer brass and Rainier bullets.
When I set up the dies I get a COL of 1.215 for my 45 ACP. However after awhile it becomes 1.220 or so, not a major difference but I can't get it to hold the COL as set. The rounds will vary between those 2 numbers.
Any thoughts?

Quote from Reloader on October 27, 2015, 7:00 pmAny variation under .020" is within manufacturing tolerances. Be sure to have a fired piece of brass in station 1 when you adjust the bullet seat die. This ensures consistant upward pressure on the toolhead. Always tighten the die lock ring with a loaded cartridge in the die as well.
