Federal LP primer dimpling

Recently loaded 45ACP on 550B using very clean RWS brass and Federal LP primers. Almost all the primers were very slightly dimpled. The primer seater appeared to be clean with no debris. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Ken

Federal primers have softer cups.Any debris or irregularity on the face of the seating punch will leave a cosmetic mark in the surface of the primer. Use a scrub pad to clean off the punch face if this bothers you.

I use Fed SP and LP. Have the same issue. I just go ahead and use them. So far it has not interferred with operation of the pistol. Goes bang everytime.

Same issue, years with Winchester primers and the "Feel" of a good seat was hard to change upon using the Federal. The only reason I have the Federal was due to my stock rotation. They were the only ones available some year or so ago due to our politics of the time. Just keep the seating rod clean and develop a feel for the seat and re-learn the feel of the seat. The batch with dimples I will use but not for serious carry practice.
