fixing high primers in my SDB
Quote from BudDV8 on September 22, 2023, 5:47 pmI have owned my SDB since it was just a Square Deal (no "B"). Let's say many, many rounds have been through the 5 SDB presses I have accumulated since 1971.
This past spring I was beginning to get a number of high primers on both my large (.44 Mag, .45 Colt, .45 Sch) machine as well as on the small primer one (.38 Special and .357 Mag). Got to the point where a good 25 to 30% were ending up with high primers.
tearing the primer assembly apart I noticed that the primer slide was rocking back and forth in its slot. When I tried one of my new ones, the rocking went away and so did the high primers! figured it was the #13722 primer slide bearing that was worn out on both machines
Can't understand why machines over 50 years old would have parts that wore out so quickly 😁
Needless to say, Dillon was quick to send out replacement parts
life is good
