Getting Caught Up?
Quote from Reloader on July 1, 2013, 9:42 pmI put in an order for my RL-550B on June 18th with all standard upgrades and a set of 9mm dies. I got the dies and all the upgrade goodies so far. Still waiting on the press and it's parts.
Order ID: 292548
Anyone know if Dillon is getting caught up or are the presses still taking about 8 weeks?
I later ordered quick change kits, dies, etc. for 40 cal, 45 ACP, and a Swager.
I am getting pretty excited about it! Been reloading for 30 years with single stage press and about 6 years with a turret press. This will be my first progressive. A lot of the shooters in my league use the 550B. From what I have seen so far this is some quality kit. Well made, well engineered.
Thanks Dillon!

Quote from Reloader on July 2, 2013, 5:01 pmYour 550B shipped on 6/27/13. Dies will probably ship early next week. Swager is shipping 7/2 or 7/3. We are reasonably caught up on RL550B , Square Deal B and XL650 machines. Most pistol dies are either caught up, or will be by early next week. Most accessories are caught up.
The Super 1050 machines , RF100 Primer Fillers, and rifle dies are still heavily backordered. We hope to be caught up on backorders for those in 4 to 8 weeks.

Quote from Reloader on July 3, 2013, 12:56 pmAwesome! Got the press yesterday. knew there was a package coming but just figured it was some bullets or something else. Turned out to be the box with the press.
Got it all set up for 9mm and learned quickly that this process takes a little bit of learned technique. You can't just go jerking on the handle. But I think I have it figured out.
I think it was 2 weeks to the day that my press arrived after initial order. Great job in these unprecedented times. Way to go Dillon!
Thanks,
Wooly

Quote from Reloader on July 3, 2013, 6:05 pmYep, got it figured out and got the machine tuned up real nicely. I was getting a primer malfunction on about 1 in 10 cases to start. Just needed to tune the primer feed more precisely. Now I can feel the primer seat. I it is a total mess and shutdown if you spin a charged case through the stations with no primer in it!
- Tune primer feed perfectly. Do not over tighten mounting bolts. Make sure there is no drag at all on the primer seating cup when handle is actuated.
- Smooth is Fast. Slow and steady. Don't flick the index star or you will splash powder everywhere.
- Let go of handle after cycle is complete. If a primer failed to load, you won't be able to advance the star. Good safety habit and leaves both hands free to place new case and bullet.
Off to the range tomorrow. Be safe and have fun.
