Got My New Dillon
Quote from Reloader on January 26, 2009, 2:01 pmWow!!!! I got my new 550B and I am impressed. I am new to reloading, but within an hour or so I was set up and reloading .40. Half an our later I had over a hundred rounds loaded.
The equipment setup was straight forward, and though there was a little learning curve on the powder dispenser, I think anyone could set this machine up and load. Good Job Dillon!!
On another note, I wonder if I will get the rest of my order any time soon?

Quote from Reloader on January 27, 2009, 7:34 pmI got one, too. It's too bad that it's completely worthless since you can't find primers for it and Dillon has done absolutely nothing to help their customers who buy their products find any -- not even a waiting list. I find this laughable.
I'm impressed by the press itself, but completely baffled at the lack of assistance from Dillon in obtaining the components to USE it with. I'm planning on returning mine, but best of luck with yours.

Quote from Reloader on February 4, 2009, 1:57 pmAre you kidding, blaming Dillon for your short sightedness.
I bought 30,000 primers and 20 pounds powder before the election. Oh and I have 1000's of bullets!!!!

Do you think we are refusing to order primers? We have primers on order from multiple sources. Small rifle primers are difficult to obtain, due to demand from folks stocking up since the election, plus the fact that the military is using most of them to supply our troops. The Government has one ammunition plant left, the Lake City plant. It is not able to produce anywhere near enough ammo to meet the needs currently, so priority purchase orders have been given to Remington, Winchester, and Federal. Right behind the military are the law enforcement agencies. Civilians get what is left. Primer shortages have happened in the past, and will happen in the future. If you look around, there are primers available. I see postings at Rio Salado Range, Ben Avery range from folks selling them, I see them at the gun shows for sale. We aren't the sole supplier of primers to the Dillon Nation.
We have no intention of having a waiting list for primers. We learned this lesson in 1994. We don't know when we will see them, and if things follow the same route as in 1994, then prices will be increased to us. We get invoiced the price of components when they arrive, not what they cost when we ordered them 9 months ago.
