High Primers
Quote from Reloader on January 16, 2018, 1:37 amCurrently loading 45ACP and primers are seated +.001-.000. Have taken apart and cleaned but didn't help. May have found problem and wanted opinions. The punch support bracket P/N 13488 appears to have worn down about .003 from the primer seater assy. Would this cause the primer seating issue? Have loaded over 25,000 on press.

Quote from Reloader on April 13, 2018, 2:04 pmIt could be the worn punch or crimped pockets. If it's only occasionally, then I would think that it is the crimped pockets. If it's a regular occurrence, then I would suspect the primer seater.

Quote from Reloader on April 13, 2018, 5:36 pmThere should be plenty of overtravel to seat a primer, even with a bit of wear on the punch support bracket. Push down on the edge of the shellplate at station 4. If it feels springy, then the shellplate bolt needs to be tighter.
Otherwise, what brand of brass and primers are you using? Have either changed recently? Does this happen 100% of the time? If yes, check the primer seater assembly and make sure it is threaded snug up into the underside of the platform, using a 9/16" open-end wrench.
