Hole depth question
Quote from Reloader on February 23, 2013, 2:08 amWould someone please measure the depth of the hole in the primer bar (#13920) on the 550B that accepts the small part (#13967) that pushes the primer into the case . I am just about convinced that the depth on mine is too shallow to achieve the tolerances for the height of the primer cup. It looks like the set screw should hit #13967 in the small diameter section of that part towards its lower end and mine does not. My hole depth is .340 Thanks a bunch. Jeez it seems that struggling with the primer feed is a requirement.

Just broke down my primer bars(1 old solid bar and a new hollowed base bar) and measured down the primer punch hole and came up with a depth of .338 on one and .341 on the other. When I assemble the cup/punch and spring I use a pair of pliers to squezze the assy together to get the 1.215-1.220 clearence.

Quote from Reloader on March 2, 2013, 3:26 pmThanks for the reply. I put the pin in the hole and tapped it with a hammer and it seated properly. I had been reluctant to use my usual technique of "apply more force" since it usually gets me in trouble. Dillon is 2 weeks behind in answering e-mails so your answer was a big help.
