Hornady Dies in my 650 - Crimp question
Quote from Reloader on May 13, 2009, 3:25 pmGreetings fellas. Gotta question for those of you are experinced reloaders. I have a Dillon 650 press. I'm assembling a toolhead for loading .357 Mag. My seating die is a Redding Competition die. My other dies in .357 are Hornady. The Hornady dies are the New Dimension ones with the titanium nitride coated seating/crimping die, and there isn't a dedicated crimping die. My other toolheads are fitted with Redding dies that have FL size/decapping dies, seating dies and crimping dies. My question is this; can I use the the Redding competition seating die to seat the projectile, and then use the Hornady seating/crimping die to crimp the cases? I.e., back the seating stem out so that it doesn't contact the projectile, and set the die so that it crimps the case. That is what I intend to do unless you guys give me cou8ntermanding instructions on setting up this toolhead. FYI, I bought the machine all set up with several toolheads all loaded out with the redding comp. dies sets. This is the first toolhead set-up I am attempting on my own.
I sure do appreciate you assistance. Thanks in advance.
