I think I broke my SDB
Quote from Reloader on July 29, 2013, 3:23 pmWhile setting up my SDB, I ran into a few problems (due to not buying the stand for it ... some things you pay for sooner or later) ...
I mounted my SDB on a 2x12 piece of board that screws down onto another 2x12 board which then I clamp to my garage workbench. I did this so I could have multiple presses swapped in and out for different reloading due to limited space.
I mounted the SDB on the top board, screwed it down to the bottom board, then tested the action ... so far so good.
Then I attached the spent primer cup bracket and then slid in the cup. Cycled the press a few times, noticed it was all that easy ... but went on with the install. I got to the step where you attach the 'coat hanger' powder bar thingy and noticed that I could not put the 'coat hanger' through the hole in the primer cup bracket ... the mounting board was flush with the bottom board and there was physically no space ... so I had to re-screw the mounting board an inch forward of the bottom board for clearance. Yes, what a knucklehead I am ...
Finally got the press forward to install the 'coat hanger' and went on with the install.
When it came time to test the press, I put the bulletless cartridge with the intert primer in it to test station 1 ... I cycled the press and heard that nice dink of the spend primer falling into the cup. When I went to retrieve that primer to test the second station ... that is when I noticed I had actually bent the primer cup bracket down during the early install ... oh crap ... what have I done???
I did my best to manually bend the bracket back and all seemed to be fine ...
Until I put that primer in the tube to test stage two ... I put a shell into stage 1, cycled the press and it would not go up all the way ... something was stuck and I didn't want to force it ...
Long story short ... after fiddling with the thing trying to get it to work ... all of a sudden I noticed the plunger that pushes up the new primer in the plate was no longer pushing up when the station 2 was empty ... then I saw a 3/4 inch spring and a broker plunger thingy on the floor under the press ...
What in the world did I do? Did the internals of the primer stage shatter? Is this fixable?
I'm sick that I screwed this up ...
Any help would be appreciated ...

It sounds like the primer didn't properly feed, causing the damage to the primer slide.
It's all covered under warranty, including the bent spent primer cup bracket.
