Indexing frozen up. My fault.

My son, who has loaded pistol rounds with me before, came home from college and sat down and started pulling the handle on some 223.  He forgot about pushing the handle to prime.  He had run a couple through the powder drop before I shut him down.  Subsequently I have about 50gr of H335 dumped into the machine.  I took off the primer system and shell plate and blew everything out.  Now the indexer ring runs stiffly and won't make a complete cycle.

What can I do to loosen it up short of taking it completely down?  If I do need to take it all down I assume I'll need the alignment tool to get it back together correctly?

Expect powder mixed with the grease on the indexer block (part index rings touches on main frame to move index ring.  Wipe clean and re-grease. See page 48 of owners manual.  Verify the shell plate is not too tight by adjusting it agian.

If that does not smooth things up. Try removing shell plate, clean and lightly grease the index ball / dab of grease on shell plate.

If that does not smooth things up I expect powder is below and above the index ring. Recommend pulling the platform assembly to clean up the index ring. Remember the spring that pulls index back around.  You do not want to stretch it.   See page 51 in owners manual. There are two bolts (Platform Mount Bolt) to remove to pull platform (part 10 on figure on page 51).  Of course if you get this far you will have to align the platform assembly again.  It is nice to have, but does not require, the alignment tool.  Align by eye, put on the shell plate, adjust for rotation.  Check and you may have to take shell plate off again to adjust the platform.  Do not over tighten the platform bolts.  Just firmly tight!
