indexing issues after switching from the small primer disc to the large primer disc
Quote from Reloader on April 28, 2018, 2:10 amSo I have been reloading for a couple of months on my new XL 650 and on the small primers for both .223 and 9mm small primers it indexes perfectly. I just switched to the large primer disc and set up and it will only index like 95% of the way some of the time. It will work correctly but every 3rd or 4th sticks as it did not index completely. I took it apart and cleaned it even know its fairly new. Are there any adjustments I need to make? I know its assembled correctly as it worked fine for all of my small primer reloads.
Any suggestions and or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Quote from Reloader on April 30, 2018, 1:02 pmSince it is fairly new, I will assume it is not a lube issue. Dillon has a good video on lubing on their website.
I would check the primer support shim. Page 35 of the manual shows changing primer size. What it does not say is that the primer support shim needs to go into the groove on the primer disc pin. The pin will need to be pressed a little to get the shim in the groove. Otherwise it may put too much friction on the pin, and things do not work right.

Quote from Reloader on April 30, 2018, 2:40 pmIf you raise the platform slightly, how does the action feel when you try to manually forward the primer disc by pushing the lever. It should be fairly smooth. If not, then make sure to lubricate the pin per Dillon's video.
Make sure to clean/brush out the area under the primer disc in case debris, powder, etc. is getting in there. Reassemble and check how smooth it actuates.
The next thing would be to make sure that there is grease on the ramp that actuates the primer disc or in the detent ball that stops the primer disc in the correct place. It should be rotating smoothly after cleaning and fresh lube. Remember if you clean it, you have to lube it.
If these things haven't helped, then I would recommend calling Dillion when you're in front of the machine and they can talk you through it. If it's not a debris/powder issue, a lube issue, then there might be something with the mechanism.
