Indexing Problem

I have ran around 4000-5000 rounds through my SDB and the machine has functioned flawlessly up until recently.  I was reloading 9mm when all of a sudden I noticed that the belling started to get bigger for some reason.  At the same time, I noticed that when the machine would try to index from station 2 to station 3 there the handle becomes *stuck* almost and I really have to force it up to index the shells.  But, by doing that it is causing stress on the shellplate and I am spilling powder everywhere.  I have checked the powder funnel for brass build-up and did not find anything out of the ordinary.  Can someone please help me with this issue?

Thanks,

Michael

Without brass in the shellplate, does the handle cycle smoothly? Are you using new brass, or brass cleaned in liquid? New brass, as wella s brass that lacks the carbon coating inside, will tend to hang up on the funnel.

Without brass the shellplate functions perfectly.  Only when brass in stage 2 and it is indexing to stage 3 will it hang or stick.

I am using mixed brand range brass that have been tumbled and sprayed with hornady one shot.  This is around the 3rd or 4th time these have been reloaded.

Thanks,

mike

Use a wire wheel, scotchbrite pad or steel wool to clean off the end of the powder funnel.

Stage two might be out of adjustment also I had a problem in that stage because of the primer feed tip was wore out and it was dropping more than one primer which would cause that stage to bind up.
