Indexing Ring
Quote from Reloader on November 8, 2011, 12:05 pmHey guys, I'm from down under and I've been using an XL650 for a few years (maybe 4 or 5 years) now, but I've just managed to break my second indexing ring in that time period.
Is there any reason why I should be breaking them? Anything I should be looking out for?
The first time I broke one I replaced it with one from a parts kit but now I'm kind of stuck. Local suppliers/importers don't seem to honor the Dillon lifetime warranty. Do you guys send new parts to overseas users at all?

Quote from Reloader on November 8, 2011, 3:20 pmThe most common causes for breaking ring indexers are:
Lack of grease on inside diamter of ring indexer, and on camming surfaces.
Shellplate bolt tightens, preventing the shellplate from rotating
a damaged case rim prevents the case from ejecting
the primer seating punch is dirty, and protrudes above the top of the bushing surrounding it-when removed from the machine, the face of the punch should be between flush to .020" below flush.
Email us your address, we'll drop one in the mail to you

Quote from Reloader on November 8, 2011, 10:14 pmAh so if a case or two catches on the ejector wire, this can break it? This is exactly what happened just before it broke. I had one or two case catch up on the wire and then it stopped indexing.
I'll take a little more care with that in the future.
E-mail sent with my address. Thanks guys.
