Is a crimp needed when reloading 9mm Luger
Quote from Reloader on May 27, 2010, 5:07 amNeed to know if a crimp is needed when reloading 9 mm luger rounds ? the rounds are for a Glock 17 semi auto pistol. Have many different opinions from friends and all dies come with only 3 dies ...none I found with a crimp die. Thanks for your help in advance.

Quote from Reloader on May 27, 2010, 2:19 pmDillon three-die handgun die sets include a separate crimp die; for semi-auto cartridges such as 9mm, we use a taper crimp. This squeezes the case mouth snug against the bullet while still leaving the case mouth straight, so it can headspace the cartridge case in the chamber. We sell the taper crimp seperately as well, stock# 14443

Quote from Reloader on December 20, 2010, 1:59 am9mm cartridges should not have a traditional roll crimp, since they fit per the forward edge of the cartridge case on the edge of the chamber. What is in 9mm is called the "taper crimp" and it is usually very faint.....very difficult to see with the naked eye and no caliper.....
