Leaking Powder Bar with AA No. 7
Quote from Reloader on February 14, 2011, 5:39 pmI've been reloading with Hodgdon HP38 in the RL 550B with no problem but switched over to Accurate Arms No. 7 for 10mm. It's a fine ball powder and it's leaking out of the powder bar and making a mess. It's also making the powder bar drag enough that I can't get the bar to reset completely after the hand lever is completely raised to the primer seating position.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Quote from Reloader on February 18, 2011, 2:28 pmMesaure the thickness of the powder bar and spacer. They should be .355"-.357" . If they are thinner, we can mail you a thicker spacer bar.
AA7 is one of the smallest granule-sized powders made, this is a common problem. Temporarily, put a layer or two of tape on top of the spacer bar to decrease the gap between the powder bar and spacer bar. Watch for a wear groove between the two. If one appears, use a file to knock off the high spots. Don't sand it out flat, as this increases the gap, making the problem worse.
