Lee Pro 1000 vs SQDB

I have owned a Lee pro 1000 progressive press and was not satisfied with it. I have since returned it. I really want to own a progressive press, but the dillon is twice the money for the entry model. My question is will I be buying a trouble free press, or will I be pulling out my hair with this press also. I want to be able to load 200 to 300 rounds in an evening ( 3 to 4 hrs) about 3 times every other week. Will this press handle it for me? I should mention I shoot 45ACP and 38spl, with some 357mag. I understand that i will have to change things around for the different calibers, and also would like to know how hard this is. With the Lee press, i could not change. Thanks for the advise! Dave

The SDB is a progressive loader just for the handgun calibers. After the learning curve, expect 300+rounds an hour without working up a sweat.

The way to speed up caliber changes to to get an additional toolhead assembly (20113) for each conversion kit. This allows you to leave the die settings pre-set. Toolheads are held on by four bolts, so caliber changes take about 5-10 minutes.

The manuals are available online, refer to the overhead service menu. (once the links are re-established).

Lets see 2x the cost, 4x the quality, 10x the fun in 1/2 the time.  Yes worth every penny.  More time on the range with better ammo.

I just bought my second SDB this eveing after 13 years and 10 of thousands of rounds through my first SDB.  Now I will have one set up for large primer and one for small primer.  (45 acp and 9mm)

I'm a fan.  I also have a 550 for the larger cases ie. 44 mag and 45 Colt.

Get the SDB and have no worries.

Hi,

I have had a sqb (9mm) since 1994.  The reloading press never let me down.  A few weeks ago I bought the xl 650 (easier for caliber conversion).  I reloaded with the sqb 400 up to 500 rounds per hour.  If you have any doubts, the service Dillon gives is really very good (even in Belgium), its worth every penny.

kind regards

Luc

I load 9mm, 40, and 45ACP with no real issues.  Once the dies are setup, it takes me 10 minutes to change form one to another.  I can without rushing, load 100 rounds in 20 minutes.  I will check the powder charge every 25 rounds, but have not had to re adjust it.

It's a GREAT reloader for the price, and Dillon's tech support is second to none!

Don

I have the SDB. It is as trouble free as any tool in the box. The only issues that I have encountered were operator error.

Warning don't wait for the low primar alarm.......
