Quote from micky_dc on August 27, 2023, 3:43 pmI've been reloading range brass, mixed headstamp all my life with only one problem.
Around 5 years ago I found a case that was 0.015" longer than SAAMI maximum so of course it reloaded okay but wouldn't chamber. I disassembled the whole thing and reused everything but the case.
When you consider that I shoot every week at least once, sometimes twice and have been doing that for most of my life, it says how much of a problem out of spec brass is.
I just examine the cases for mouth splits, side splits, other obvious defects and toss anything that doesn't meet with my approval.

Quote from Artistg2 on August 28, 2023, 4:16 pmI agree with Flash, with an additional caveat; I keep a magnet attached to my case feeder, as I have found some cases are steel with a brass coating. By looks, it doesn't stand out, but not good for resizing as much more effort is required if it is missed in the sorting process. With a magnet on the tube, it does stop the speedy reloading, but I get the time to remove it and I usually smash it and toss in the trash. I've loaded close to hundreds of thousands of 9 mm with my 650, with very few issues.

Quote from RB85 on November 30, 2023, 6:14 pmI've been finding a small number of 9mm Norma cases with very small flash holes that are smaller in diameter than the depriming pin in my Dillon die set. So rather than stopping the machine every time to clear the shell plate I've been sorting my brass by head stamp and tossing all the Norma and odd ball brass. Last night I loaded 1000 9mm in a little over 45 min. without a single stoppage.
