Lube question
Quote from Reloader on December 14, 2012, 1:51 amI just tore down my 550b and relubed everything. I cleaned out all the old grease and oil with a paper towel, then I coated all of the pins with grease, and then the main shaft with motor oil. It's working smooth as a baby's bottom.
I talked with a coworker and they mentioned that instead of regular motor oil, wouldn't it be better if I used synthetic motor oil instead. Would it be better if I used a little synthetic motor oil like mobile 1 or equivalent. I thought I would ask this on the forum before I just went off experimenting on my pride and joy.

Quote from Reloader on January 12, 2013, 4:06 amAnyone? I had a spare needle oiler for a commercial embroidery machine. I tried a couple of drops of that and wow the action is super smooth now. I figured if the oil was suitable for 8 hours at 1200 stitches per minute, then it could handle my 550 rounds per hour easily.
I'll see about running a thousand or so through it this weekend and see how it does.

Quote from Reloader on March 11, 2013, 4:36 pmI did same thing, tore down & lubed. Had same thought about synthetic and used it. Works great.
I read somewhere that an alignment pin is required to re install platform after tear down. I don't have one and am not sure how it is used?
