Lubrication

I have not used my Square Deal B for a number of years and am preparing it for use.  I have disassembled it an found a considerable amount of lubrication through out.  Am wondering if this was from the factory or if I did this the last time I had it apart.  Should it be generously lubricated as I am finding??  If so, what lubrication is best??  Thank You

Grease, and lots if it, is a good idea. Grease on the vertical corners of the square ram, the bottom angled edge of the index lever, the link arm bearings, and on the connector body collar ribs.

The manual is some what confusing on this issue.  Some portions recommend lubrication and other suggest it's not necessary due to the type of buskings used.  Which is it?  What type of grease should be used?
