Lubrication Grease

Is it OK to use the same kind of grease on my 550b that I use to grease the rails of my 1911's

Yes, this is fine. Just avoid WD-40, Break-Free

Admin3,
For my 550b, I have to use a needle grease fitting to inject the grease into the small holes on the frame. If they won't take the grease fairly easily or at all, then it might be time to break down the press and remove all the old hardened grease which can block the flow. I do this about once every 2-3 years, but I only load about 2-4k per year.

Why can't you use WD-40 ?

WD-40 is a water displacement product with solvents. The solvents have a short-lived lubrication property. But it is not a lubricant.
