Maintenance question

Last weekend I totally disassembled, cleaned, and lubricated my 550B according to supplied instructions. Everything went back together with no issues save one. After first aligning and then tightening down the shell plate platform/base, I noticed that I could grab the attached arm that secures the failsafe rod and wiggle the base ever so slightly. Is there supposed to be any torsional play in the ram? I have not loaded any ammo since the cleaning, so I don't know if this is an issue. It may have been doing this all along and simply not noticed.

This is normal. There is always some rotational movement, even when brand new. The amount doesn't matter, as the cases in the dies will force the shellplate to move whichever direction is needs to move to maintain alignment.

Thanks for the response. Ammo is reloading well. Cleaned machine has a different feel which probably underscores how dirty it was.

How many rounds since you'd cleaned it?
