Media: Corn Cob vs. Walnut Hull

Is there a benefit to using one media over the other?

They are the same price so I can really apply the "you get what you pay for" analogy.

I saw in another post that corn cob lasts longer (more cases) than walnut hull.

I load .32, .38, .357, .9mm, .40S&W, .45, .222, .223, .308, 30-06 and a few others.

Is media one better for me than another?

Thanks-

Bill

We recommend corncob for general cleaning and polishing, and walnut media only for stained or tarnished brass. Corncob does last longer than longer than walnut.Walnut is too abrasive to polish.

Lyman makes a walnut that has a polisher in it. I have found that it cleans and shines the brass fast.

If you opt for walnut (I mix the two) You can get a cheap supply in any decent pet store....they call it "Lizard Bedding"  for little more than a song you can get enough to last almost forever....LOL

I am getting ready to clean a large quantity of .222 Rem and .223 Rem brass. I was wondering if walnut media would be better than corn cob due to the small necks of the cases. Will walnut clean the inside of the cases better than the larger corn cob particles? Will walnut be less likely to get stuck inside the cases than corn cob? Thanks for any advice.
