Media power in the case
Quote from Reloader on January 8, 2009, 6:56 amI hajust bought a vibratory tumbler being new to reloading with a RL550B and realizing I was running out of new brass to load and had to staet cleaing,.. however the red colored walnut shell media leaves a red powder residue inside the case, is this going to cause wear on the dies? Should I be cleaing this stuff out of each case first??

Quote from Reloader on January 8, 2009, 4:43 pmThis red stuff is rouge, an abraisive material. Strongly recommend cleaning off the brass, as it will wear both the dies and the chamber of your firearm. Unless your brass is heavily stained or tarnished, I suggest using corncob cleaning media with Dillon rapid polish. It is a better choice for brass that is just range-dirty. Corncob media lasts longer than walnut, and the polish helps remove dirt and tarnish. It also helps prevent tarnish buildup on brass.

Get another tumbler and keep corn media in that one only.
It is fast, and the best way to get the economy going too.
Have Fun
