More primer slide issues
Quote from Reloader on February 16, 2009, 2:46 amI see a lot of posts on primer slides, I guess I am in good company here 🙂
I have a 550B and more often than not get primers that do not come out of the claw shoot (sorry don't know the proper name for it) properly and miss the spent primer cup. I also get fresh primers that get jammmed between the primer slide and the frame/ram area preventing me from completing my upward stroke. Suggestions would be appreciated.
I have a couple of other questions, I am sure more than a couple eventually but I will post in different threads.

Quote from Reloader on February 16, 2009, 4:29 pmI strongly suggest that you phone us for assistance when you can be in front of your loader. On the spent primer catcher, the cotter pin it pivots on is probably bent and needs replacement. You can use a small safety pin for this. On new primers, the primer cup should not contact the plastic tip.

Quote from Reloader on March 24, 2009, 2:58 amRich, had the same trouble so I called and talked to the help line. They gave me the height of the cup when seated properly on the bar. Per their instructions I had to use a vice to to compress the cup/spring/rod into the primer bar, then screwing in the allen screw. This got it to the proper height and now it works just fine. Good luck!
Tom
PS- The proper height is in the manual in one of the enlargement drawings.
