my 1050 misses cases and spills powder
Quote from Reloader on February 16, 2011, 5:43 pmMy Super 1050 is skipping the case occasionally somehow and spilling powder all over the machine and making cleanup a mess. I now keep a small vacuum handy and thinking of mounting it on the wall permanently because the problem reoccurrs so often. I'm loading .223. I have completely cleaned the press and made sure it was dry. I do apply a light lube oil to friction points. The press is kept in a climate controlled room and I am looking for mechanical reasons for this.

Quote from Reloader on February 17, 2011, 2:28 pmThe powder measure is case-activated, so if no case is under the powder measure, it won't drop powder. What powder are you using? If an extruded powder, it could be logjamming in the funnel and when you lift the handle up it jostles it and the powder spills. Slow down on your handle movement and observe. Also, push down on the edge of the shellplate at the bullet seating station. If it feels springy, then snug the lock ring a bit more.
