Need caliber change advice

I've got a one year old 550B set up for .357 at the present.  Wanting to start loading for .40 S&W.  What do I need to purchase to make the caliber change other than a caliber conversion kit, toolhead and carbide pistol dies?

Anybody?

I would add a powder die to the list you have. That way you can leave it setup in your 40 s&w tool head. Other than that you should be good to go.

A case gage for 40 cal.

There is lots of brass fired from Glocks left at the range and the 40 seems to be the only caliber affected. When fired from a Glock, there is a bulge at the base that there is a cure for but not from Dillon. Check your rounds in a case gage after loading or just sizing and you'll find some that don't drop all the way down. If you are shooting a Glock, the rounds will likely work in your gun, but not in other makes if you don't use a gage.

The cure:

I shoot a Glock, but with aftermarket barrels. I use a Redding Grx pass thru sizing die to get rid of the bulge. It got so frustrating that now I have a single stage press set up just to run ALL my 40 brass through. If you get one, and load a lot, think about getting the bottle and adapter or you can try this trick. I use a 1" dia plastic hose attached to the top of the die with a hose clamp and run it into a 5 gallon bucket on the floor. I can send pics if you like. I go through a couple thousand rounds a month, and I have buckets for sized and unsized.

I love Dillon, but sometimes you just have to go with what works, and this does it for me.

Enjoy,

Thanks, admin3..........will do.

Thanks, divejj............I was aware of the bulge problem and how to correct, but the hose tip is invaluable.

OOps, should have mentioned that 1" is OUTSIDE dimension, 3/4" is the inside dimension for the tubing/hose. You need to stretch it just a bit to get it around the die threads. Depending on how much (die thread) is exposed, I put a 1" hose clamp on it as well.
