New to Square deal B

Been reloading with an old RCBS single stage for a few years now. I shoot SW 357 in my clubs steel challenges, but maybe will try to expand to other events. Decided I would buy a used SDB on eBay. Found one set up with 9mm. Well son law shoots 9’s so if I get it and buy a conversion to 38sp, I figure I’ve got my basses covered. What I didn’t know is that there is a 38 week wait for these conversion kits.

Would anyone have a Square deal b 38sp conversion kit they would sell? Be much appreciated.

Good way to start in the progressive handloader world. Conversion kits are in short supply due to the amazing uptick in interest. If you haven't already, check with SHEELS or GRAF & SONS. They also sell Dillon accessories. When the mother ship is restocking, sometimes other outlets will have what you need.
Hope this helps. Read everything on the topic you can. It is a lifetime hobby that has brought a lot of joy. Especially in those long winter nights where range time is dreamed of, and your favorite cartridge gets reloaded into all your boxes!

also consider getting another tool head. https://www.dillonprecision.com/20113

that way you don't have to 'mess' with setting up the dies each time.

4 screws to swap tool heads

1 bolt to change out the shell plate

good to go

and here is a link to the online manual in case you need one:  https://dilloncdn.com/magento/manuals/sdb-manual.pdf

Thanks Wally, got a tool head on order, and got lucky and found the 38sp conversion kit on eBay. I’m impressed with the videos from Dillion. Took the time and lubricated the press as shown in the video. This work also gave me a chance to study the mechanical workings of this press. Waiting on the tool head and the sturdy mount.

great news!

I find the reloading almost as much fun as the shooting--cowboy action requires a far amount of ammo per match (60 pistol, 60 rifle, box of shotgun typically) and  I shoot 3 times a month

always looking to make the reloading easy and fun

Wally, probably about 4 years ago I started learning how to use a 22lr revolver. Now I’ve been shooting a S&W 357 revolver in Steel challenges at my club. So I’m a beginner, have reloaded about 8 k rounds with a single stage RCBs press a friend loaned me. The used Dillion press i bought is the next step for me.  Perhaps join more events in the future, with a few less hours at the press I hope.

Have you run into a cowboy shooter named Doc Perry? Friend of mine.

No Doc Perry's down here that I know of, but I'm just a member of two clubs--bunch more in TX
