Newly acquired Square Deal B ?
Quote from Reloader on March 4, 2013, 7:19 pmI recently acquired a Dillon Square Deal B, 9mm. This is my first Dillon press as everything before this has been Lee. I am excited as I have heard nothing but good things about Dillon equipment.
The press was missing a few small parts, which I ordered from Dillon (locator buttons, powder funnel, primer pickup tubes) It was also missing the spent primer cup (the bracket is damaged on one side) and the powder failsafe is missing .
I did pick up a used .38 ACP conversion kit which gave me the F powder funnel, the critical component for use.
In getting the press cleaned up and ready to use I notice a couple of issues.
1.The primer cup seems to hang up on the bottom shell plate before finally pushing through with a click. Is this a timing issue? The shell plate is well worn.
2.The most critical problem is my sizing die. It seems to size the cases too large. My 95gr JSP FN just seems to fall in! 124gr FMJ TC do the same but not nearly as bad. In my Lee sizing die they both are tight.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards, WD

Quote from Reloader on March 5, 2013, 4:48 pmI suspect the primer cup and punch are not bottomed out in the primer slide. Measure from the underside of the primer slide to the top of the cup using calipers. It should measure 1.410", +/- .003". If too tall, use a clamp or vise to compress them down, then retighten the retaining screw.
On the size die, be sure the die is marked 9mm #1.
