No Grease holes
Quote from Reloader on October 6, 2015, 10:24 pmI have an early RL 550b, (the first version I think). It has no grease holes, nor does it have the zerk fittings. The axis pins are held in place with snap rings.
The question, is how vital are the grease holes?
I've heard tale of galling presses but mine remains smooth & even. I usually do a maintenance procedure at least annually where I un-mount & clean the press of old lube then lay it alternately on the left, & then the right at least overnight with a fairly thick (3 in one electric motor oil) applied to the tops of all the bearing holes, giving the lube time to wick down inside the bearing area. The ram is the cycled several times & the press re-mounted with a bucket underneath to catch any drips. After a couple of days I wipe any excess away.
Is it worthwhile going through the process of somehow upgrading to the newer fittings in your opinion as I don't seem to have had any galling issues?

Finally how about the bottom pivots? They only explain those with holes or Zerk fittings & I have neither.

Quote from Reloader on November 1, 2015, 1:02 amI bought a air tool grease gun with a needle like point from the tool man, it's made to grease air tools, part number Cornwell (CATMGG2 - Mini Grease Gun). I use it on the grease zert and on the swing arms there are small holes, I hols tightly to the press and it will grease the pins. It's fast and no need to take apart. Here's a linkhttp://www.cornwelltools.com/webcat/products/CATMGG2-%252d-Mini-Grease-Gun.html

This presents a slight problem then.

Quote from Reloader on January 28, 2016, 6:34 pmIf it is working fine then you are ok. When mine started to bind I call Dillon and they sent me new parts for my press and I replaced them. Works great. As a side the bolt did not have a grease fitting. It has been working like a charm. I might add that my press was about 15 years old and had not been used for about 7 months when I discovered the problem.
