not picking up primers
Quote from Reloader on March 21, 2008, 12:52 pmI also am having a problem with my 550b not picking up primers. In order to get a primer I have to pull back on the priming bar to get it to pick up a primer.

Quote from Reloader on March 25, 2008, 5:32 pmCheck the bracket clamped around the primer shield. It is probably too high on the shield tube. Loosen the clamp screw and slide it down until it is within .004" of touching the machine frame.
Next, be sure the operating rod freely moves in the hole in this bracket. If necessary clean the end of the rod that goes into the hole with sandpaper, grease this end, then reinsert it into the bracket.
Finally, check the roller bracket to make sure its mounting bolts are tight. This is the alloy piece you slide the case across to push it into the shellplate.

Quote from Reloader on April 2, 2008, 8:44 pmThe primer slide on the 550B I just received (my first Dillon machine) would NOT come all the way out and pick up a primer unless you pulled on it. I tried everything suggested in this forum, but no help. In completely disassembling the primer assy., I found TWO primer feed stop springs, pt# 13979, installed. Removed one and it works fine.
