Not Sure Which Dies to Order
Quote from Reloader on January 13, 2013, 11:43 pmPlanning on purchase of the XL650.
Think I have everything but am unsure of which dies to purchase.
Wanting to reload .270 win cartridges.
They seem to have complete die sets for 308 but not .270 Win
Any help would be great.

Quote from Reloader on January 14, 2013, 2:48 amAsking which die to pick will get a wide range of views. Many people will be very strong about why their selection is the best.
For me: For high volume (9mm, 223, 40, 45ACP, 308) I choose the Dillon die sets if they are available. I have had very good results with the new style and the old style.
High high accuracy load I have had excellent results with 'Redding' dies. I get the 'Micrometer-Adjustable Competition Seating Dies'. Of course for rifle you will want both a neck die and full resizing die. There are many good books on making a load suited to just your rifle. Rifle loads, for example your 270, will most likely be low volume and accuracy is preferred over volume. Why not pick the best and get the best results!
load safe, /l

Quote from Reloader on January 28, 2013, 10:30 pmFor .223 loading on XL650 does the three die carbide set include the full-length carbide sizing die?
From the Dillon website "For high volume users, such as commercial reloaders, law enforcement agencies, and high power or service rifle competitors, we also offer .223 and .308 die sets with a full-length carbide sizing die. Lubrication is still required, but the increased scratch resistance and die longevity of carbide are of great benefit to these groups of users.
Thanks
