Old SD Questions
Quote from Reloader on July 7, 2012, 9:16 pmI have a couple of questions about my old SD.
1. I have been installing a few new part on the unit and have removed the shaft to clean out the interior and replace the indexer assembly. My unit has the Delrin link arm bearing and looked like they had some sort of grease or lubricant on them. What should be used to lube them when I reassemble?
2. I am puzzled by the over travel block assembly on the shaft. It looks like it should move a bit on the bowed washer and spring. Mine does not move. I am going to disassemble and see if it needs cleaning. Any advice on what to look for? I also am curious about the function of this block assembly, everything has been working fine on the unit.
Thanks for the help.

Quote from Reloader on July 9, 2012, 3:04 pmwe use wheel bearing grease on the inside and outside of the link arm bearing, on the vertical corners of the shaft, and on the angled bottom of the index lever.
The overtravel block should indeed spring outward. If it does not, there is most likely a burr from the bottom of the incline that the brass roller travels on extending down over the top of the overtravel block. Use a file to clean this burr up.

Quote from Reloader on July 9, 2012, 7:22 pmThanks, have the over travel stop working smoothly now, just needed a little cleaning up and when I removed the shaft I found it was moving as it should but cleaned it up anyway.
Will get some grease and use as you suggest.
