Order Snafu or not?
Quote from Reloader on February 20, 2013, 6:37 amI placed my order Jan 19, 2013 knowing full well the state of affairs would be getting worse if I waited any longer. My 550 showed up about 3 weeks later. Not too bad considering I was ready to wait 4-6 weeks. However upon inspection I noticed the 45 ACP die set I order was not present. I sent an email noting my situation. Didnt hear back so I purchased "from another source" a 10/40 die set and caliber conversion figuring it would show up soon enough. With those 10/40 parts in hand I decided I would assemble my machine now. After laying the parts out I now see I am missing the 45 ACP caliber conversion kit as well that my machine should have came with too. Are these components being shipped separately due to the back log? Im confused and havent had any response from Dillon regarding my original concern regarding the die set not being shipped. Now I realize I dont have the caliber conversion kit either. Im gonna send another email but I have no idea if they even received the first email I sent. How should I proceed? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Any similar experiences? I'd love to hear about it?!

Quote from Reloader on February 22, 2013, 3:00 pmI hear you brother. Notice my post about receiving a quick change kit without the dies. I feel your pain. I'm sure that the nerves of all the employees at Dillon are on edge these days because of trying to satisfy everyone. But, just think if your business had been given this type of gift due to what the government was attempting to do.

Quote from Reloader on February 25, 2013, 2:51 amI'm in the same boat. Had an order on 30 Jan which I've received minus the 45 acp die set. Dillon has not responded to my initial email concerning the missing die set, so I'm not sure if they plan to fulfill my order for the die set separately, or I should order from another source. The least they could do is state it was on backorder or not orderable at all. Frustrating when working with a top quality company. My guess, is that people will order from other suppliers, and Dillon will end up with a boat-load of returns.

Quote from Reloader on February 25, 2013, 4:23 amWhen I looked at the die sets online there was this notice at the top of the page:
Notice: Many Dillon Die sets are on backorder, as orders are coming in faster than dies can be manufactured. Therefore, backordered dies will be entered as a separate order, with a separate shipping/processing charge.
May I suggest you find a friend with the correct dies, load at that buddies for a while. Build a friendship and then later when your come in you will be an expert loader. :) We are going to have to share, everything is getting hard to get. Powder, Primers, etc prices are going up again. Remington just raised prices again.

Quote from Reloader on March 1, 2013, 3:07 amI just got the same treatment. The last time that I had a split shipped order it just took time. I could have gotten the dies (9mm) from "another source" for double what I paid here... I will wait patiently for their arrival.
Thanks, Prez and the congress critters for the delay.

Quote from Reloader on March 8, 2013, 4:34 pmHey man, I was watching the RL550B instructional DVD while waiting for my order to arrive and heard the guy say that the caliber conversion kit is purposely shipped separately from the machine and accessories. Much like the rest of the video, there was not a whole lot of explaining and he didn't go into why this is. When I ordered mine, I got a bunch of stuff weeks before my press arrived and the caliber conversion kit was among the items shipped first. I realize this doesn't explain a whole lot but atleast may give some insight to a method they have, what ever it may be.
