Quote from Reloader on July 28, 2018, 1:15 pmI agree shipping cost are expensive, but if I can get an order in a few days then I dont get to worried overit.
What torqued my butt was I went and bought a new xl650 from a dillon dealer that was near by. When I got home with it opened the box there was no case feed tube and the case feed post was the wrong one. I realize things happen when packing up presses.
I called Dillon and got the case feed tube and the case feed post straightened out. Thank you Sam for you help. I also ordered a magnum powder bar and a 650 repair kit.
It is galling me is that was nearly a week ago.. still has not arrived yet so the new press is mounted and sitting doing nothing...uggg. in my opinion that stuff should have been overnight delivery or at least 3 day.

Quote from Reloader on August 13, 2018, 12:49 pmdid you get the notice of shipment from Dillon, along with the tracking number? It usually comes the next business day, or maybe a day after, but they've always sent them to my email address along with a tracking number, if available. I've also gotten parts in a regular USPS envelope because it was easier for them to do than to find a box that is small enough to ship.
I've watched the progress of my shipments from Dillon as they leave the factory and inch their way across the country to my home in Ohio. It's usually NOT Dillon's fault, and if something isn't in stock, they'll tell me immediately upon confirmation of my order, or very soon after that.
I don't like it when the shipping arrangements are a joint venture between FedEx or UPS and the Postal Service. I've watched too many of my packages get "lost" in the handover from FedEx/UPS to the USPS and then nobody knows where they are. I can track the packages, which is small comfort, but at least I know Dillon has kept their part of the bargain. The shippers don't much care, they won't deal with the recipient, even though you might have paid for the shipping, they only deal with the sender.
I doubt they're making a "profit" out of the shipping costs, as someone alleged. Shipping materials cost money, the people who are working in the warehouse do earn a wage, which is part of the shipping and handling costs, and shipping isn't necessarily set by Dillon. Unless you know the terms of Dillon's contract(s) with the various shipping companies, it's difficult to substantiate the claim that they're gouging you on shipping costs. If I think the cost is too high, I wait until I can combine orders and then it lowers the average shipping cost for the whole order. If one item has a shipping of $9.99 and I need another item that can be thrown in with that first item, without upping the shipping costs, that's how I order. Your results may vary.
