Pin removal
Quote from Reloader on August 20, 2012, 5:43 pmHi,
I started to feel resistance when pulling the handle down, not bad but enough to know that there is something binding some where. T tried to take the unit down to clean and relubricate. I am having some trouble and hope you will help.
1- Can not get the link arm pin out, it is the new style with self locking nuts on both sides and a grease fitting on the right side. I can get either nut off but can not get the other nut off as the pin will spin, I tried taping the pin out on the side that the nut was off, but the pin will not slide out. Do both nuts need to be off? are there any set screws holding it in? (did not find any)
2- How do you remove the solid link arm and Hollow linl arm pins? I could not find any thing holding them in, are they just friction fit and need to be tapped out with a hammer and punch?
I would appreciate any answers, as I did not want to force anything and damage it. Thanks.
Chuck

Quote from Reloader on August 21, 2012, 4:55 pmThe lower link arm pin is stepped. You must disassemble in the following order:
Remove the shellplate, then remove the platform. Loosen the set screw in the bottom of the ram, and push out the crosspin that connects the crank to the bottom of the shaft. Once this is done the shaft will slide out the bottom of the frame.
Now, run a punch through the hollow upper link arm pin to drift out the solid upper link arm pin. Then run the punch through the pin hole in the frame to drift out the hollow pin. Now the crank and link arms come off together. Now the link arms and lower link arm pin may be removed for cleaning and lubrication.
Reassemble in the reverse, and if you don't already possess one, please phone or e-mail us for a platform alignment tool.
