plate misalignment

Yesterday, loading 45 ACP, I had to give the rotation lever a little push about 90% of the time to get the brass into the sizing die.  It's an RCBS carbide die and it is chamfered on the bottom about 1/8".  Is there some way that the whole indexing head can get rotated out of alignment.

At one point, I took the plate off, ball and spring out and cleaned everything off with a solvent to make sure that this wasn't being caused by the spilled powder in the detent holes and it wasn't any help.  This cut me down to less than 200 rounds/hr not to mention the crushed cases when I was hurrying or PO'd.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

If you have had the platform off, this part needs to be aligned. Phone or e-mail, include your address, so we can mail an alignment tool to you.

Another possibility is in the die. RCBS dies lack any radius to the entryway of the die. It helps if you loosen the die lock ring, run a fired case up into the die, and tighten the lock ring with the case up in the die.

I had the same problem.

The instructions are to leave a small gap between the "paper clip" and the case head.  I let it barely touch the case head, but it was just enough to force it out of alignment such that a decent percentage of the cases had to be tapped to move into the resizing die.

When I checked and then adjusted it according to the directions, the problems stopped.
