Powder bar

Hi,
I load with my XL 650 rounds for .44 Magnum,
Charge was 11,2 grs Hodgdon Longshot.
The powder measure had the small powder bar.

I have had differences in the charge weight
from 0,2 to 0,4 grs

Is it better to change the powder bar and
work with the large powder bar ???????

I read that the small powder bar is from
3 - 20 grs and a second article said from
3 - 7 grs ???????

What should I do ????

Simple: Put in the larger bar. Adjust for amount wanted.   Drop at least 10 powder drops to settle the powder, measure 20 powder drops.  Pick the one small/large powder bar like the best (most consistent / least variance).

Other factors can go into variance in powder drops.  Stability of the loading table. How soundly the loader is attached to the loading table.  Speed/smoothness of pulling down the handle. Even the up stroke can effect the powder settling in tube or powder spillage as the plate is turned.  Keep power tube at least 1/2 full for most consistent drops.  Lot number changes of same powder 'can (but slightly)' effect the same bar setting.   And always measure at the beginning of every loading session.  Weather (temperature and humidity) will effect the amount of powder dropped.

Polishing the powder funnel will improve consistency (just the slope, do not polish where the powder bar goes - will cause leakage).
