Powder Bar Hang-up's

When charging a case (223) in station (2) on the up cycle I will feel a hang, it appears to be within the powder system. I have removed all other variables and place a single case within station (2). It is random, I can make several cycles before the hang. I am testing the cycle with the same 223 case. The powder bar is approximately 1/2 the distance of the charge cycle when the hang appears. You can pull through the hang and the powder is dispense accurately. I'm using Varget powder and wondering if this is causing the hang? The linkage is lined up correctly and the spring tension on the safety return is good.

The powder/warning system also hangs when loading 223.  I have aligned, realigned...................

your thoughts,

Mine was the cam not advancing the primer wheel enough, today I tried .223 and it was finicky. I think there might have been some CCI primers in the batch and my small primer system cannot be tightened down or it binds the wheel. Could that be part of the problem? I changed the plastic cam index block up on the frame and mine straightened right out. Seems that .223 is more finicky than most.

Thanks Jeffer, Last night I ran the machine without powder and had no hang-up's. I typically prime all cases first and then perform the charge, seat, and crimp process at a later time.

This process allows me to deal with the primming issues without interupting the charging cycle. Here is my process for reloading 223. Although not the most desired way, I find it less frustrating when dealing with the "finicky" loading of 223.

1. Clean cases

2. Swage military crimp as needed

3. On a different tool head Size and Trim all cases.

4. Inspect and clean primer pocket, debur, chamfer as needed

5. Prime all cases 1st.

6. Charge, Seat, and Light crimp

7. Tumble 10 minutes to remove lube.

Are you using extruded powder? Mine dislikes extruded powder and when I switched to granular type or flake type powders mine settled right down.

My XL650 likes the ball powder best. I have gotten mixed results with extruded powders. Try to stick to ball powder.

I am "struggling" with this same exact issue and using VARGET powder. I think i am going to have to switch to a powder like TAC or CCE
