Powder bar moving with no case. Please help.

Hi everybody,
I recently acquired a used square deal B, after many recommendations from friends and reading review after review of happy people I decided I couldn't go wrong and instead of waiting to have the funds to purchase a new one I happened to run across a fair priced used one and bought it. I have had problem after problem but got most all of them taken care of except one. I tighten my powder die down just enough to get enough flare to seat a bullet, if I go up any further on the die than I am I don't get enough flare and shred my bullets. My issue is that even with no casing in station 2 when I pull the handle and the shell plate goes up it still pushed on the powder funnel enough to cause the bar to move about a quarter inch. If I dont throw the charge back in the hopper after this it causes me an over charge by as much as 2 full grains sometimes, if I'm running em through keeping the shell plate full and charging a case every handle pull the charges are perfect and stay the consistency promised. I have tried everything I can think of and have run out of ideas. If anyone has had this problem or knows what to do please let me know. Thanks alot guys

After more and more checking and trying to figure it out I am starting to wonder if maybe during the back and forth with no casing in it somehow powder is getting over or under the little triangle piece inside the powder bar and it is packing back where the threads are and causing the charges to come out bigger. I'm stumped otherwise and it is quite frustrating. Dillion has been super cool to me so far and sent me several replacement pieces other places I have had problems with things broken or wore out and I really dont want to ask for anything else untill I am certain what the problem may be and what could possibly fix it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everybody

With no case under the powder measure, the shellplate will push up on the powder funnel a bit, but not enough to drop a powder charge. It sounds like either the powder isn't settled under the baffle, or not enough powder is in the hopper. Start with the hopper at least 2/3 full, then use a case to drop ten powder charges, and return them to the hopper before you begin weighing.
