Powder Check For Hard to Hear

I recently decided to put my Powder Check on the 650 loader.  I had been using that station for another use but after loading a few with no powder I thought it best to install it.  The problem I found was the frequency of the alarm; high pitched and almost of out of my nearing range damaged by combat and years of competition.  I had a 12v alarm from Radio Shack that after soldering to the existing connections and attaching it on the outside that the level of alarm is loud and can be heard downstairs.  It worked fine on the AA 1.5v battery. No powder is a problem but double is bad, can't do either now.  I have never loaded a double but have with no powder (rarely) from time to time.  Pay attention you say; I do but-------

I have the same problem but not quite as bad. I more or less hear the alarm but have trained myself to focus on the rod as well. I do wish there was a way to alter the pitch of the alarm because my 4000 Hz is gone with Vietnam.

For straight cases like pistol rounds, I angle a light so I can also see inside of the cases - that helps as well.

Good Luck

the light - Check out http://www.inlinefabrication.com for a GREAT light system that illuminates the inside of the press area quite well. That was probably the best aftermarket purchase I have made for my press.

Enjoy, jj

Could you wire a low voltage LED to the alarm switch?

My hearing is shot too. I sometimes wear my electronic ear muffs. This allows me to hear the alarm clearly. I've never had a primer go off while reloading - knock on wood, but I imagine that it would also help to protect my hearing - what's left of it, in that unlikely event.

I think that your eyes are the best cure in this case...in the beginning i use powder check...now i remove and use led light and visual check.

in the third position i place bullet feeder die, the bullet siting and lee factory crimp.

On the powder tank put a rubber band and you sure that it close when you relese the bar
