powder die crimps lip of case
Quote from Reloader on June 15, 2020, 3:49 pmMore than occassionally my 9m or 45 case will receive a small crimp on the top lip of the case from the powder die. This make the case too fat at the top of the case to load into the pistol chamber. So I throw these out before they get to the bullet seating position. This wastes a case and a primer. What am I doing wrong, or how should I adjust the powder die to avoid this? Thanks! Scott

Quote from Reloader on June 17, 2020, 2:27 pmIf I understand your problem it sounds like the mouth of the case is being flared too much. If that is the problem, raise the powder measure a little to lessen the flaring of the case mouth.
I use a die set that puts a slight crimp on the loaded round as well as forces the pistol round to have the acceptable overall diameter. The force it takes to do this operation is noticeable when you pull the loading handle. I load .45 and 9mm in my 650.
Secondly, you can carefully deprime a primed case and save the primer and case. I have done this many, many times with no problem whatsoever. I would do the depriming on the 650 when there are no other primers in the machine. Or you could use an arbor press or a single stage loader using your decapping/depriming die from your 650.

Quote from Reloader on June 24, 2020, 5:15 amI'm having the same problem with .357 cases. I called today and talked to a Dillon rep. He suggested adjusting the Primer Station Locator Tab (Manual page 53). I did so and it does not contact the case. However, cases are still not lining up on Station 2 and unless I reach in and tap the case when it comes in contact with the expander, roughly 1/3 of my cases are ruined. I pulled the expander out and polished the edge so that there was no chance that cases wouldn't slide to the center if they aren't too far off. It helped a little, but not much. I took pictures but I don't see any way to post them on here. Link for photo of alignment: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10217530339033415&set=pcb.10217530339273421&type=3&theater.
