powder drop in station 1

i recently upgraded from a lee loadmaster to a 650. on my loadmaster i was sizing on a single stage, gauging/trimming, then hand priming b/c the loadmaster's priming system is so terrible. this allowed me to setup the press as follows:

station 1 - expansion/charging
station 2 - powder check
station 3 - bullet feeder
station 4 - bullet seat
station 5 - crimp

I know the 650 is way better than the LM. question is can this be done on the 650? this setup is the most efficient for me, especially when processing random range pickup brass. TIA!

Station 1 is for resizing and decapping. Station 2 for priming and powder charge. You can't charge the case with powder until you've put in a primer, otherwise, you'll have powder coming out of the primer hole in the base of the case. Station 3 is for powder check, Station 4 is for bullet seating, and station 5 for crimp, if necessary.

I don’t know what a bullet feed is but if it means putting the bullet in place I think it would be better done in 4 where there is more room.

I have been wondering the same thing. After looking at the Xl 750 and the Loadmaster I believe it can be done if you are willing to make changes in your setup.

Speculation follows and is all based on the fact you are de-priming/sizing and priming off press.

One you would have to remove the priming pin since the powder would be right above an already primed case. No sense in having it as accidently pushing forward on the handle would only cause damage to an already primed case, or at worst go boom.

Secondly you would have to use a different powder measure that is spring activated (Lee makes a couple like this) or modify the Dillon powder measure with their spring kit.

Now when the case is fed into station one and brought up this would charge the case and follow what you are doing on the Loadmaster.

station 1 - expansion/charging
station 2 - powder check
station 3 - bullet feeder
station 4 - bullet seat
station 5 - crimp

Now I know what I said is blasphemy and goes against the Dillon way, but if my thoughts are correct then it would be great if someone else would confirm this. If it's totally incorrect then please let us know it is and why.
