Powder drop issues

I have an XL 650 loading 30-06 with IMR 4895. I know IMR 4895 in not a recommended powder by Dillon. My issue is inconsistent drop weights. I have set the dispenser for 46.5gr and most of the time it drops 46.5 +/- .2gr. I am happy with that but ever so often it will drop 46 or 47gr. not sure what is going on. I have disassembled the complete powder drop assembly and polished the interior of all of it. I've slightly reamed the powder funnel and polished the interior of it. I thought possibly static was an issue so I waxed all of the interior and used a dryer sheet to wipe the inside and outside of the reservoir and installed a ground wire connected to the copper plumbing of the house. Now what do I do? I also switched to a magnum slide which made the throws more inconsistent. I then removed the interior block from the magnum slide which is convex and installed the standard large slide block which is flat, that gave the most consistant throws? still not ready to give up on 4895, it's not clinging to the powder dispenser and it's not clumping or bridging that I can tell. I am not getting powder spill other than a kernel once in a while. Any other ideas? I check on the internet and seem to have run out of solutions to try.

Thanks,

CT

Only a couple of suggestions.  I have a XL650 and Do reload a lot of 30-06 and a lot of it with 4895.  I can hold +/-.1 on a consistent basis and I too have done the polish mod to the powder funnel.   Make sure your bench is really solid.  When I started using 4895 (on an older 550b) I used it on a roll away cabinet.  I got lots of variations.  The cabinet was on wheels and the press would move around.    Also on the up stroke, at the top, pause for 1/2 second.  This will insure that the entire drop has been dropped.  Not letting the full load drop, will cause a lot of deviations.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply. I have the loader mounted on a steel base cabinet with 1 1/2" maple butcher block style top. I have a 2x4 leg mounted directly under the loader to support even more, all on concrete and a strong mount also. Loader doesn't move, rock solid. Wish they would come up with a powder measure that would feed stick powder more reliably like other manufactures seem to have.

Had the same issues on both of my 650ies when I got them. After advise of I friend I changed in both machines the powder-drop-slide to one of Arredondo.
Since doing that I never had any issue - no matter which of my 8 different powders I use.
